Nixette — Photographer Nikolai Gernet’s Website
The brief
I designed and developed the personal website of travel photographer Nikolai Gernet. The brief was to present his nature, travel and expedition series and connect the portfolio with information about the photographer and his work.
The approach
The visual system gives photographs priority: pale surfaces, dark blue accents, large images and restrained typography. A homepage carousel introduces the photography, while the sections below connect projects, biography and a contact form.
I organised the portfolio into individual projects and thematic tags. Visitors can browse by place or subject, explore series cards and open a detailed project page.
Details
Each series combines a description, project information and a gallery with a large-image viewer and navigation. The interface supports sequential viewing while retaining the context of the photographer’s story.
Dedicated pages present his biography, recognition and services, including photography, teaching and personal projects. Navigation and contact paths connect portfolio browsing with a conversation about collaboration.
I adapted the structure for phones, with a compact header, mobile navigation, project cards and a dedicated image viewer. This case shows actual desktop and mobile states of the website.
